Norcross, Georgia (July 8, 2020) – PruittHealth – Aiken (S.C.), PruittHealth – Bamberg (S.C.), PruittHealth – Columbia (S.C.), PruittHealth – Magnolia Manor (Moultrie, Ga.), PruittHealth – Peake (Macon, Ga.), and PruittHealth – Santa Rosa (Milton, Fla.) are now operating at Alert Code Red status, with at least one presumptive positive COVID-19 case in the centers or transferred to a local hospital.
Due to recent surges, communities across the Southeast are experiencing an increase of COVID-19 cases. PruittHealth continues to follow the latest guidelines from public health officials and implement infection control procedures for the safety of its patients and staff. The organization has been in communication with the affected individuals’ families, physicians, and local health departments.
By initiating Alert Code Red status, the centers will continue to implement enhanced infection control protocols, including increasing cleaning frequency, postponing communal activities, ceasing visitation, and screening staff and patients daily.
Below are several of the steps the organization is taking to safeguard its patients and employees:
- Air scrubber and filtration system installations
- Isolation units and walls for containment
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) sourcing and allocation management
- On-going, required infection control training for employees
- Aggressive COVID-19 testing, upon availability
- Transparency testing data on its
Emergency Preparedness webpage
- Continued usage of the telehealth system, when possible
The centers operating at Alert Code Red status will also further restrict staff to only essential personnel and new admissions will cease. PruittHealth continues to urge staff to avoid contact with those who are sick and consult with a physician if they do not feel well.
PruittHealth is closely monitoring all patients who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. Patients’ families or staff with questions or concerns related to COVID-19 should contact the PruittHealth Emergency Operations Center at 855-742-5983 to speak with a member of the organization’s team of healthcare professionals.
